Double Skin Facade Design

Baba Supersign designed and executed an 80 ft × 10 ft self illuminated retail facade for TLW at MG Road, Gurgaon. The facade combined an internally illuminated acrylic lightbox with a CNC cut ACP halftone overlay and dimensional metal lettering. The lighting was integrated within the signage system, avoiding the need for separate external floodlights while creating a large illuminated brand surface across the storefront.

Acrylic Lightbox & ACP Overlay

• Internal Lightbox: Aluminium framing housed the LED lighting behind the acrylic facade face.
• Acrylic Diffuser Face: The illuminated acrylic surface formed the bright background layer of the facade.
• CNC Cut ACP Overlay: A custom halftone pattern was CNC cut into ACP and installed above the illuminated acrylic layer.

• Uniform, Joint Free Illumination: Solid acrylic would have been ideal for a bright, unbroken glow but prohibitively expensive at this scale. Instead, we engineered a backlit light box system with a smooth acrylic front panel.

A CNC cut aluminium composite panel overlay was positioned over the illuminated acrylic face to introduce the custom halftone pattern and visual texture associated with the TLW facade.

• Dimensional Lettering: Solid channel letters were added on top of the acrylic face to introduce a three dimensional effect, making the signage both legible and premium looking.

Materials & Fabrication

• Lightbox Frame & LEDs: Engineered aluminium framing houses evenly spaced, energy efficient LED strips that bathe the entire façade in uniform light.
• Acrylic Façade Panel: High opacity sheet provides a smooth, joint free illuminated surface.
• CNC routed ACP Overlay: Precision cut halftone pattern on durable ACP adds branding texture without compromising illumination.
• Solid Channel Letters: Powder coated aluminium letters mounted on standoffs deliver crisp, dimensional / projecting lettering.

• Integrated Lighting: The LED system is contained within the facade assembly, eliminating the need for separate external floodlighting.
• Cost Effective Brilliance: The layered lightbox and ACP approach provided the required illuminated facade effect without constructing the entire facade from solid acrylic.
• Large Format Brand Presence: The 80 ft wide illuminated facade creates a prominent branded frontage along the MG Road retail site.
• Scalable Design: The same modular approach has been successfully rolled out at Moul sari, Moul sari Metro and IFFCO Chowk locations.

Result

On installation day, the illuminated façade immediately captured attention from every passerby. TLW’s MG Road store became a local landmark and in respect to the client’s trust, this signature design remains exclusive to their locations.
